PET - I, ME, MY, MINE, MYSELF and BY MYSELF

Theory:

I is used as the subject of a sentence.
- I gave my car to Maria.

ME is used as the object of a sentence.
- Maria gave ME a car.

Things get confusing when there are multiple subjects and objects.
- David and I want to play football. (I because both DAVID and I are subjects.)
- Maria invited Joe and ME to the party. ( ME because both Joe and ME are objects.)

IF both the subject and the object of a sentence are the same person, MYSELF is used.
I time MYSELF when I run.(I and MYSELF are the same person.)

My and MINE are used to show possession, where MY goes before the item and MINE goes after it.
- This is MY dog.
- This dog is MINE.

MYSELF is also used for emphasis.
- I cooked this MYSELF.

BY MYSELF means ALONE.
- I went on holiday BY MYSELF. (meaning ON MY OWN)
