The Swift

The swifts are a family of highly aerial birds (1) are superficially similar to swallows. They are (2) fact more closely related to hummingbirds. It cannot (3) denied that there are some strong resemblances between swifts and swallows. This is due to some coincidences in evolution, which reflect similar lifestyles based (4) catching insects in flight. Swifts are the fastest (5) birds. Larger species are amongst the fastest fliers in the animal kingdom, and the common swift (6) cover enormous distances in a single year. This ability is due to the (7) that swift wings have proportionately large wingtip bones. This allows them to alter the shape and area of (8) wings.
